The Life and Works from Jack

Labor Day

Each year we honor those workers who are eager.
Only one day a year seems rather meager.
I thought it would be nice to see who is honored this day.
Definition, (one who exerts or labors in almost anyway).

Generally we think of workers, as opposed to management.
So why not honor those for whom the day was meant.
In a way I guess we actually do,
as those who remain on the job are few.

When I was a child in elementary school,
I never thought of Labor Day as being cool.
The reason, Summer was over and school began.
Imagine a young boy enjoying that if you can.

We had to leave the creeks and field behind,
and go off to school to improve our mind.
Later as a worker I enjoyed the holiday.
Enjoyment is a state of mind anyway.
