Happy Birthday Pete
It is a good time to reflect on the past.
Celebrating 50 years you should have a blast.
As I looked at the child on that day 50 years ago.
I saw a baby, I would be proud to watch grow.
As Toddler you were an active little
fellow.
I can’t say that you did ever mellow.
As a teen you would help me with a task.
Before we were finished, you would ask.
When we are through may we go fishing?
That was much better than sitting and wishing.
It seems that much too soon you became a man.
I missed the child but still became your biggest fan.
As for doubts as you were growing I had some.
But I am proud of the man you have become.
I started out to wish you a happy birthday.
All these other thoughts got in my way.
I wish you blessings over the next fifty years.
That will make you so happy I’ll hear your cheers.
