Car Builder: Investigating Aerodynamics

Step 1:

Research different aerodynamic shapes, and terminology on the Internet, and answer the following questions.

1. Define aerodynamics

2. Draw a shape that is aerodynamically good.

Step 2:

1. Open up the Car Builder program (F-drive—>Auto—>Car Build—>Car.exe)

2. Choose {B} Body Design

3. You now have 4 options: B (Build new body–>allows you to change the front, roof, and back with designs already on the program); M (Modify Body–> allows you to toggle from front to back and change the shape of the car’s body); C (Customize Body–> change the windows and add decals); S (Body Storage–> save your body style)

4. After you have decided on the final body you must test in the wind tunnel (From the main menu select T–> Test Car and then W–> Wind Tunnel) If your body design has aerodynamic problems then you need to go back and modify the body design.

5. Once you have a body that passes the wind tunnel test, draw a sketch of your body design and illustrate how the wind current passes over the car.
