X2004-Various Artists
X2004, the second installment of the X series, contains 18 of today's newest rock songs from some of Christian music's hottest and newest rock stars.  Just by looking at the list of artists on this CD, it can be seen that this is going to be an awesome CD.

Skillet starts things off with their song Savior.  The song is extremely awesome.  It gives the typical Skillet style and is just a simply great song.  An awesome start to this album.

Kutless continues to keep this CD up on a hard rock beat with their song Treason.  This song shows that Kutless has quickly become a front-runner in the world of Christian Rock music.  And the story behind the song is just as awesome.  Jon Sumrall said this while introducing the song at a concert this year: "When someone says they love America, but do something with against it, they're charged with treason...why isn't it the same way when we say we love God and go and do something against Him?"

tobyMac keeps things going and gives his fans a reason to buy this CD.  Outside of his festival-only single of his song Phenomenon, X2004 is the only other place that tobyMac fans can currently find the One Phenom Remix.  The original version of Phenomenon is a decent song.  However, it is certainly not one of Toby's best, and at times can sound overproduced.  Toby redeems the song with this remix, however.  The bass line is killer, and the song is awesome all around.

Next up is
Thousand Foot Krutch's Rawkfist.  This is simply a great song to rock out to.  The chorus really says it all: "Throw up your rawkfist if you're feelin' it when I drop this."

Relient K slows things down a little bit on this CD with their song I Am Understood.  While being a great song from a great band, Relient K may be looked at as a group of pop princesses when compared with the first four songs on this CD.  However, it is certainly a great song with a cool message.

FM Static could also be looked at as a group of pop princesses after four songs of hard rock.  Definitely Maybe is a song about a cheating boyfriend and the guy who wants to date the girl. being hurt by this cheating boyfriend.  It's a good song, but again, is more of a pop-rock song than a hard rock song.

Bring Me Down from Pillar is a relatively new song off of their Broken Down EP.  It brings back the hard rock nature of this CD and is a really awesome song.

Next up is one of the most catchy songs on this CD,
Rock OnKJ-52 brings in the guest vocals of Pillar's Rob Beckley to accompany him on this song.  The chorus is very catchy, and the verses are killer.  A great song.

Worldwide Two from Audio Adrenaline is a great song.  I truly enjoy Worldwide Two more than the first song on their CD Worldwide, Worldwide One.  It is simply a more catchy, more Audio Adrenaline-like version of the song.

Big Dismal hits it off with their song Running Through My Mind.  This is a song that I honestly forgot was on their debut CD.  However, after hearing it again, I remember why so many people are making Big Dismal's music even more popular.

Freedom To Feel by John Reuben is by far the most rap based song on this CD.  While it has a few moments where it is a really catchy song, it's probably my least favorite song on this CD.

Seven Places already had a hit with their song Landslide before this CD was released.  It is a great song from this group, and I'm definitely ready to hear some more from them.

Superchic(k) brings about their Hero (Red Pill Remix).  The first part of the song has a very funky beat to it that doesn't seem to fit with this song.  However, once the chorus hits, it turns into an awesome song.  And the rap toward the end of the song is also pretty awesome.

Next up is
Tait's Numb.  Another group that incorporates the use of Rob Beckley's guest vocals, Tait scores a huge hit with Numb.  It's just another completely awesome song that makes this compilation a huge hit.

Jeremy Camp comes along next with his song Stay.  In his debut CD, which this song is from, and his worship CD, Camp proves that he is an artist that is here going to be around for a very long time.  Stay is a great song.

12 Stones shows why they are rock stars with their song Crash.  This song is a wonderful song.  12 Stones is an awesome band, and this song shows you why.

Last up is a song from the upcoming movie Livin' It.
The Cross Movement brings another very rap oriented song to the table with Livin' It.  The Cross Movement is a good group.  It is certainly deserving of a spot on this CD.

FINAL ANALYSIS: X2004 continues a great series of CDs that I hope will be coming back annually for many years.  An awesome CD chock full of great songs from great artists.
