Wire-Third Day
Third Day returns from their second CD of worship music to their original rock stylings.  2004's Wire brings Third Day back to the rock music that made them big in the Christian music industry in the first place.  But was it good enough to be Third Day's best yet?

The lead-off track on Wire is
'Til The Day I Die, and it's a typical Third Day lead-off song.  It's a very rockish song, and, as it is with most Third Day songs, lead singer Mac Powell's voice shines.  A great way to start the CD off.

Come On Back To Me is up next, and it is certainly no letdown.  Stylistically, this song is reminiscent of some of the stuff from Come Together, and that's certainly not a bad thing.  Lyrically this song is similar to an old Third Day favorite, I've Always Loved You.  With a more up tempo beat and some good music, Come On Back To Me is sure to be another Third Day hit.

Next up is the title track,
Wire.  This song is very similar to What If I Stumble from dc Talk.  The lyrics are pretty similar, and while What If I Stumble is probably more solid all-around, Wire is still a good song.

Rock Star's a fun song with a good point: at the end of the day, even if you're not some huge rock star, God still sees as you something wonderful.  The music is awesome, and some of the lyrics are pretty amusing, such as this choice phrase from the chorus: "I wanna be a rock star, but I ain't got the face."

I Believe has the possibility to be another Third Day radio hit.  It has all the elements of the Third Day formula (A catchy chorus+great music+the fact that we're talking about a Third Day song=a likely hit).

This next song seems to be a personal one for Mac, because the lyrics seem to be directed at someone he knows well (they could even be directed at himself).
It's A Shame is great because it's obviously a personal song, but it's written in a way that most listeners will be able to relate to it.  Great job.

Blind is yet another song from this CD that has the potential to be a big hit.  With great music and, once again, lyrics that everyone can relate to, this is sure to be a song that everyone will be wanting to sing along to.

Next up is
I've Got A Feeling.  This song is much like 'Til The Day I Die.  It's very upbeat rock.  This is probably going to be great in the live atmosphere of a Third Day concert.

These next two songs are quite possibly the best two songs on the CD.  We'll start with Track 9,
You Are Mine.  You Are Mine is so great because it's something every Christian has thought before.  All of us have wondered why Christ died for us, and this song brings that question to the forefront and then provides the answer: "It's by Your sacrifice I can say that I am Yours and You are mine."

Innocent is also another nominee for the best song on the CD.  This is just one of those songs that you hear and think, "This would be a perfect song to do on a Sunday morning at church as a special song."  It's just got those kind of lyrics that you know would work perfectly at some point with one of your pastor's messages.

Billy Brown is an interesting song.  It's kind of like Rock Star in that it's really just this fun song that has a point.  Billy Brown is (I'm assuming) a fictional character who is this huge rock star that everyone wants to be like.  One of the best lines in the song is: "Do they know the reason why you point your finger to the sky?"

There's really not much you can say about this next song,
San Angelo.  We've all longed for home at some point.  That's what San Angelo is all about.

The last song on this CD seems like it was inspired by the stories of Christian martyrs throughout time.
I Will Hold My Head High talks about how we all should be in our walk with God...holding our head high and praising God no matter what the cost.

Summary: All in all, this is your typical Third Day CD.  Lots of rock, great lyrics, and an amazing lead singer's voice.  So is it their best ever?  In a word...yes!  I could not find a song on here that I would skip while listening to the disc.  An absolute must-have for anyone, Third Day fan or not.
