#1
The #1 disc of the year.  We've already gone through so many great discs already, so the #1 disc of the year had better be something truly spectacular.  And, oh man, is it spectacular.  Shrouded in controversy, delayed for well over a year, a few copies leaking out in July last year...and we haven't even touched on the music yet.  This disc was one of 2005's Top 5 albums, and now it returns in 2006 as the year's best (Now that it has been "officially" released).

#1: Pro*Pain by Mars Ill: For the second year in a row, a hip hop disc is the #1 album of the year.  And, for the second year in a row, Dust and manCHILD have their names mentioned in the #1 album of the year.  Pro*Pain released in 2006 after an incredibly long delay.  "The Golden Ticket" slipped out to a select few last year, and it was one of the greatest hip hop discs around.  In May of 2006, people finally got to hear the completed project, and it was no less spectacular.  New tracks Too Strong To Change and Glam Rap brought on some more guest spots (Including Cappadonna of Wu Tang Clan) and brought something new to the table.  But it was tracks like Say So, Sound Off, Stand Back And Watch and When Heaven Scrapes The Pavement that defined this disc.  This was a hard-hitting hip hop offering, and, even with all the controversy that surrounded it, it was clearly in a class of it's own in 2006.  Pro*Pain was great in 2005, and it only got better in 2006 when more and more people were able to be introduced to it.  Mars Ill quite simply created a disc that nears perfection.
