This Too Shall Pass-The Fold
Tooth & Nail has consistently been a record label which has managed to put out quality music from quality artists and gain popularity both in the Christian and mainstream realms of music.  The punk/pop/rock stylings of many of their bands allow these artists to open themselves up to a lot of different fans.  The Fold is a band looking to be another one of the Tooth & Nail success stories.  The debut disc, This Too Shall Pass, has received some solid publicity, and looks to capitalize on it.  However, the obvious question is whether the music makes The Fold worth your time or not.

From the opening track of
This Too Shall Pass, it can be seen (Or, more accurately, heard) that The Fold definitely has the potential to be another big success for Tooth & Nail.  Gravity combines some solid pop/punk stylings with pretty good vocals and even better lyrics that really capture the ability many Christian artists are working on; the ability to create an inherently "Christian" song without turning off the ignorant secular-minded people of the world who use excuses like, "That song's too preachy."  It's a song that can certainly be a witness to people not looking to be witnessed to.

The disc as a whole pulls off some truly quality tracks.
The Title Track (Which is, in a roundabout way, titled This Too Shall Pass), the lead single from the project, provides radio listeners a pretty good indication of this disc.  The music is rock mixed with a little pop and a little punk.  The vocals, even at their worst, can still be considered "good."  And the lyrics throughout are well worth a read.

Evermore is another one of the disc's better tracks.  The guys managed to slow things down a little without losing the edge in their music.  It keeps you interested and looking for more.  And yes, you do get more.  Each of the fourteen tracks on this disc keep you in the songs and allow you to not be completely bored.  The one downfall of this disc is that nearly every track sticks around the three-to-four minute mark.  The longest track, I Believe You, clocks in at just 4:17, while the shortest track, What Is Right, is just 58 seconds long (It could be construed as an interlude of sorts, but it does actually lyrics included in the liner notes, something that's not typical of an interlude).  The rest of the tracks range from 2:57 to 3:40.

Overall,
This Too Shall Pass is another solid Tooth & Nail release.  The disc falters in it's ability to create anything truly diverse (Both from the time aspect and from the musical aspect), but this flaw is minor.  The Fold managed to create a good release in their first effort, and This Too Shall Pass certainly gives listeners a band to look forward to in the years to come and the hope that the potential these guys have can be fully used.
