Start Something-Lostprophets
Lostprophets' debut CD sets out to do exactly what it states: Start Something.  Following the success of their first single, this CD sets out to show that this band is much more than a one-hit wonder.  So, does it prove that?

The opening track is an interesting combination.
We Still Kill The Old Way has some awesome, fast-paced, hard music.  The lyrics, on the other hand, and the message behind them, are pretty crappy.  Good music, bad song.

If you own
Need For Speed Underground, then you'll recognize this next song.  To Hell We Ride.  This one is much like it's predecessor.  The music is great, the lyrics and the title aren't.  We need to find ourselves some good lyrics from these boys.

Now we come to
Last Train Home.  This one is a good song.  The music and lyrics both work well, and it's just a catchy song.  Definitely a good choice for a first single.

Wake Up (Make A Move)
is next.  This one isn't all that good.  The chorus is pretty catchy, but the verses leave a lot to be desired.  The music is just good this time, so, once again, the song is a letdown.

Next up is
Burn, Burn.  Simply put, it's better.  It's not great, but it's better than the previous songs.

I Don't Kno
w...yeah, that's pretty much the thought behind this entire disc so far...is it good?  I don't know.  So far?  Aside from one song, no.

Hello Agai
n returns us to good music.  Unfortunately, the singing is not good.  These guys have yet to get it right on this disc.

This next song seems out of place at the beginning.
Goodbye Tonight starts pretty slow, which seems out of place on this disc.  However, Lostprophets makes sure that it's not considered a slow song for long.  This one is actually a pretty good song.

The title track,
Start Something, is pure genius.  It's hard to go wrong with a hard rock band and a full orchestra.  And, topping it off with a quiet piano solo at the end is just plain awesome.  This disc is starting to get better.

A Million Miles comes next, and this one really had the potential to be a good song.  The violin part in this song really makes it awesome.  However, the screaming throughout was completely unnecessary, and it's also marred by an extremely idiotic answering machine message.  A decent song that should've been great.

This next one is pretty simple to summarize.
Last Summer is simply a good song.

Last up on this disc is
Sway.  This one is a decent song, though it's clear that hitting high notes is not a forte of this lead singer.  This four minute song  is turned into a 10 1/2 minute song by a long musical number, but if you like it, then it's worth it.

FINAL ANALYSIS: Lostprophets' first CD offers a few bright spots, but it's heavily marred by bad messages, bad lyrics, and bad singing.
