| The Soundtrack Of My Life | |||||||||
| If you're wondering, this entry here is directly sparked by a post on the dctalksolo.com message boards which was directly copied from one of the member's blogs (Though I have reworded some of the categories to better fit...such as Making Up rather than Getting Back Together). Anyway, the soundtrack of my life...what would it include? Well, a lot of stuff. Too much to list. But, I shall try. Here's a taste of what the soundtrack of my life might look like: Opening Credits: Some Will Seek Escape, Others Forgiveness by Underoath...It's slow, I know. And you generally don't open a soundtrack slowly. I don't care. The track has one of my favorite lines ever to be screamed in a song that also happens to represent my mindset every day, good, bad, or great: Jesus, I'm ready to come home. Waking Up: The Clincher by Chevelle...First off, the intro to this song should be able to wake anyone up. The guitar is amazing there. On top of that, the song is a great reminder of my place in life (The imagery I get in this track of Jesus being nailed to the cross and "the clincher" being that it should be me up there is always a great way to keep me in check). Average Day: On My Way by Grits...I chose this one because I really like the vibe musically. Even on an average day, I have a pretty positive vibe, which is what I'm getting here. And yes, I be on my way. First Date: Hands Down by Dashboard Confessional Falling In Love: Without You by Shaun Groves Love Scene: Brass Bed by Josh Gracin Breaking Up: All She Wrote by Default...This one just fits all too well with situations that I've been in or have seen happen. The first line hits it perfectly: Something's wrong with your mind/It won't think of me anymore. Fight Scene: Kick My Ass by Big & Rich...I am not a fighter. If I were to get into a fight, I would probably get my butt handed to me on a silver platter, because most people are far larger than I. And I would be the guy who would get my butt kicked for looking at someone's girl the wrong way. Making Up: Confessional Booth by Kevin Max...the chorus really says it all: I'd take back everything I said that ever caused you pain or stress/I'd take it back, just like that. Secret Love: The Secrets That We Keep by Sara Evans...Okay, I'm sure this isn't the general idea of "secret love" here, but I don't care. I wasn't going without mentioning this track. It's an amazing love song about the secrets shared by a wife and husband. Life's Okay: Breathe (2 AM) by Anna Nalick...Why not? I mean, when life's okay, all I've got to do is Breathe, just breathe. Mental Breakdown: F%*@ The System by System Of A Down...there's nothing quite like a hardcore SOAD track to truly capture a mental breakdown. Driving: Umm, Hello? by Dane Cook...Okay, so it's not a song. I don't care. It fits perfectly, because I am that white guy who says that when someone cuts me off. And no, I'm not black or Chinese (If you don't get that, listen to this track and you'll understand). Learning A Lesson: Breathe You In by Thousand Foot Krutch...At first this seems like an odd choice for this part of a life soundtrack. But think about it. The chorus talks of always being strong but not being able to do it on your own. When I'm learning a lesson it's always either directly or indirectly (through parents or friends or such) a lesson I learn through God. And I can't do this without Him. Deep Thought: Nothing Without You by Bebo Norman...Similar to the last track, it's a simple statement that provides a deep message...without God, I am nothing. Simple in sentence structure, deep in thoughtfulness. Flashback: Making Memories Of Us by Keith Urban...Okay, it's more of a love song, but when I flash back to things, I think of making memories. And you know what? I'm going with it. Partying: No Sleep Tonight by The Faders...No explanation needed. Regretting: Who I Am Hates Who I've Been by Relient K...Really, is there any better regret than who you are hating who you've been? Death Scene: Breakfast Table by Chris Rice...Death, while sad for us on earth, is also a joyous time (Assuming the dead one is a Christian). This track represents both of those thoughts. Closing Credits: When The Sun Goes Down by Kenny Chesney & Uncle Kracker...Do you really need an explanation? Now, I'm sure some of you genisuses out there noted that I didn't give any comments on the songs I chose for the stuff involving dates/love/sex/all that good stuff. The thing is, I could do a soundtrack for each of those categories just as long and most likely longer than the soundtrack of my life. To pick one track would just be impossible. Some of those tracks got their place here based on a coinflip, I kid you not. There are so many amazing love songs out there. I encourage you to check out the list I made around Valentine's Day this year (Located in the February 2005 section of the Weekly Top 25 page, of course). Even this list is just a sampling of some of the amazing love songs out there (And that doesn't even include any that came out this year in late February and on). I would encourage you all to fall in love with the love songs. You may even find yourself become a bit of a romantic. I know I like to consider myself one, and the fact that I listen to love songs certainly doesn't hurt the romanticism. So there you have it, the soundtrack of my life. I hope you enjoyed just a brief glimpse into my life through the joy of music. |
