| Love Songs...And Lots Of 'Em | |||||||||
| Back | |||||||||
| Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, and it's on your mind whether you're married, dating someone, or totally single. For many, it brings a lot of great memories and a day worth anticipating. For others, it brings a lot of pain and anguish. Still others see it as a "Hallmark holiday" not worth thinking about. But the one thing constant during Valentine's Day and the days leading up to it is the abundance of love songs that you start hearing everywhere you go. Again, these draw mixed reactions, depending on the person. This guy right here, however, can't get enough of it. If "love songs" were considered a genre, I might consider it my favorite. I truly enjoy the good love songs out there, especially the more recent ones. Every genre has it's love songs, but this is one area where it's hard to deny the stranglehold which country manages to hold on the good songs out there. The pop divas out there like to throw a lot of "love songs" out, and they get eaten up by the mainstream, by they offer little real substance. Many country acts out there have gotten down the art of a real love song. From Lonestar's Amazed to Rascal Flatt's I Melt to pretty much anything Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney, love is a major topic matter for country artists. But that's not to take anything away from the other genres, which each have some truly excellent love songs available for consumption. And, with that thought in mind, I give you a list of some of my favorite love songs. I tried to stray away from what I did last year (Making a list of my 25 favorites), not because I didn't like what I did, but because it's just far too difficult to whittle down the abundance of love songs out there to just 25 of my favorites. So, instead, I present you this year with a couple of different lists that end up having over 80 tracks that you may want to use for your own listening pleasure as I have. Many of these tracks are pretty new (As in the last two or three years). And all of them that I can think of are late '90s and beyond. So yes, I know, I'm missing some of the true classics from before my time. But they're classics for a reason...because everyone knows them. My goal here is to introduce you to the new classics...song everyone should know. So, click on the link right below this sentence here and check 'em out. Continue... |
