| Red. It's a pretty simple name for a band. It doesn't particularly grab your attention. But that's okay, because no one buys music simply because of a band's name (Okay, maybe some people do), and no one chooses to not buy music simply because of a band's name (Okay, again, some people probably do). Whatever the case may be, don't let a simple name mislead you. This band is anything but simple. Red's debut disc, End Of Silence, puts forth a spectacular effort for the hard rock realm. Even from Intro (End Of Silence), which gives off a quiet, softer vibe, it's clear that something is going to different. And when Breathe Into Me blasts into your ears, it can be figured out: Great music, great vocals, and even better lyrics. That seems to be theme throughout the disc. Great music, great vocals and spectacular lyrics can pretty much describe every track on this disc. Already Over, both part 1 and part 2, are work of lyrical excellence. And Lost may be one of the best lyrics to come around in years, speaking of spending life lost in God. It is difficult to pick just one track that stands out above the rest on this disc, because each one has so many great qualities. Whether it be edgy hard rock tracks like Let Go, Break Me Down and Gave It All Away or softer tracks like Pieces and Already Over, Part 2, the thing that keeps every track going is the lyrics. With lyrics these solid, nearly any band to could do a great job. The writing is just plain awesome. So, overall, End Of Silence is a great debut disc for Red and is definitely going to be one of the best discs you'll hear in 2006. In the rock realm, it is a definite must-have. The music is solid, the vocals are great, and the lyrics are some of the best you will hear this year. Pick this disc up as soon as you can. |
