Business Up Front, Party In The Back-Family Force 5
The Christian music industry is often labeled as an industry that lacks originality and creativity.  And these comments often come from the industry's biggest critics, Christian music fans.  It constantly brings up the questions that has plagued the industry since Christian radio has gained popularity: Are the artists producing bland music because that's what people want?  Do people want this bland music because it's what radio tells them to like?  Is radio playing it because that's what people like?

Family Force 5's debut disc, Business Up Front, Party In Back breaks this vicious cycle.  This disc is nothing like anything you've ever heard before.  And that's not just in regards to the "Christian music" genre.  This disc is something that you've never heard quite like this anywhere.  Three brothers and two friends came together two years ago and created a band that, quite accurately, defies classification.  The closest classification you could make would be to call them a rock band, but even that grossly undersells this band.  With Family Force 5, you truly get a little bit of everything.

Cadillac Phungque and Kountry Gentleman lead the disc off a breakneck pace that never seems to let up.  In these two songs alone, you hear references to an innumerable amount of things you never thought you'd hear in the same song: Speak 'N Spell, The A-T-L, Contra & Nintendo, mellets, gold teeth...and the list goes on.  And the entire disc is like this, with songs ranging from cries of being replaced by God to the club shaking like an earthquake, to the ex-girlfirend and the drama queens.

It is hard to pick out any bad tracks on this disc.  Every one is simply so original that it's hard not to find yourself loving this disc.  You may laugh when they tell ugly people to keep their hands down in
Put Ur Hands Up, you will, to go completely cheesy, lose yourself in Lose Urself.  The lead single, Replace Me will actually get you thinking.  And Earthquake is a rarity in the Christian music realm; a track that you actually expect to hear in clubs alongside the 50 Cent's and Kylie Minogue's of the world.

Quite simply,
Business Up Front, Party In The Back is a disc that you will not want to put down for a very long time.  This is one of the best debut discs to come along in quite some time in any genre.  Many bands tell you that they defy classification.  For once, this actually proves true, thanks to Family Force 5.  No matter what you think you're prepared for, this disc will surprise you all the way through.
