| ...And The Rest Will Follow-Project 86 | ||||||||
| The popularity of hard rock in the Christian realm (and Christian hard rock in the mainstream realm) has grown quite rapidly over the past year and a half or so. The emergence of screamo acts like Underoath and Emery and their subsequent bursts on to the mainstream scene (Just two of the Christian bands you could find on the 2005 Warped Tour circuit) has really helped propel the popularity of the genre. But it is clear that no one has forgotten about one of the founders of the genre, Project 86. The latest single, All Of Me, from the new disc ...And The Rest Will Follow, shot up the rock charts nationwide. The song debuted at #8 on Radio & Records' Christian Rock chart (No such feat has ever been accomplished) and has been near the top of popular online radio sites christianrock.net and christianhardrock.net. The new track and new disc look poised to offer some of Project 86's best work to date. In no shocker, this disc is chock full of hard, bang-your-head-non-stop-for-an-hour tracks. All Of Me is just one of many tracks full of screams, screeching guitars and solid lyrics. Sincerely, Ichabod, Necktie Remedy and Doomsday Stomp are just some of the other tracks that will get you completely immersed in the quality of this disc. It is difficult to claim any track on this disc as "the worst." Unlike most discs, where there are a few tracks that clearly stand out above the rest (or fall far short of the others), this disc treads a dangerously thin line by having 12 tracks that are of about the same quality. No track really stands out above the others by a massive amount, nor does any track lack something the other tracks have. This is almost always the sign of a relatively poor disc that stays in the same spot the whole time and becomes a bore. ...And The Rest Will Follow, however, walks this tight rope to perfection. Listeners will never feel stuck in a rut on this disc. The entire disc, from The Hand, The Furnace, The Straight Face, to Something We Can't Be to From December offer you a little something extra that keeps you completely interested for the full disc. Overall, ...And The Rest Will Follow is an excellent collection of tracks. One of the things that's noticiable on this disc as opposed to previous Project 86 discs is the lyrics. While the lyrics have always been solid, one of the big things that has often held these guys back a bit has been that their lyrics are so great with metaphors and subtleties that they have often left the casual listener a bit confused and therefore disinterested in the band. Fear not, the solid lyrics written with said metaphors and subtleties are still definitely here. However, they are written in such a way that they just seem to be less confusing for a casual a newcomer to the group. Because of this, ...And The Rest Will Follow certainly should be touted as Project 86's best offering to date. |
