| The Project Length: 3,000 words as a rough guide. Obviously any diagrams, floor plans, non-verbal materials and materials on disk that you include cannot be measured in these terms. Remember that your option assignments are roughly half the size of your Professional Practice assignment! The administrators of a teaching institution are thinking of using computers to assist English teaching, and they have approached you for advice. Write a report for them to: A) discuss their options regarding the provision of computers in classrooms, resource rooms and/or a self access centre, and giving your own views on the advantages and disadvantages of different approaches. Your recommendations should take into account existing resources and constraints within the institution. There is no need to work out the cost of your proposal - but you might want to take into account the relative expense of different options. You may include a floor plan or any other diagrams if relevant. And B)recommend a suitable basic software collection for the institution. You may recommend materials that teachers can author themselves (such as programs from the Wida authoring suite), and/or ready-made materials on CD-ROM. Describe and evaluate these programs, noting possible ways in which they can be used by particular groups of learners studying at the institute. For this basic library only select a few of the pieces of software you have looked at this term. Be sure to point out the limitations of the programs you select, as well as their advantages. You might also like to explain why some types of software would not be useful for learners at your institution. Refer to some of the CALL articles you have read, and also to relevant articles recommended in other MA components, to support your discussion. AND C)submit materials and a plan for a sample CALL lesson (about 40-60 minutes of learning time) to be taught within the institute, together with a rationale describing the context for the lesson, and identifying the skills it is designed to develop. Submit your materials on disk (if they are intended to be viewed on screen) and in print (if they are intended to be viewed on the printed page). Don't forget to submit any supplementary materials that are also necessary for the lesson, such as documents, pictures and/or worksheets The Project REPORT Lesson Plan/Rationale Exercise Bibliography My Info: Name: Jabreel Asghar Email: [email protected] |
