Welcome to Physical Education at Hilton Head Elementary-Scholar Academy. Our program focuses on the four fundamental areas of Physical Education: Locomotor Skills, Body Management, Rhythm and Dance, and Educational Games
My Philosophy of Education- The goal of Physical Education should be to instill positive attitudes and behaviors for a lifetime commitment to joyful physical activity and good health.
Benefits of Physical Activity: There are a number of great benefits of  physical activity. Improved appearance, improved body image, improved self-control, more enjoyment of life, improved health, increased muscular strength and endurance, increased level of energy, improved physical performance, increased success in your school work or job, helps cope with stress, sleep better, and increased life expectancy. For example,  participating in an activity such as jogging, cycling, rope jumping, swimming, dancing, etc. for 30 minutes 2-3 times a week can greatly improve cardiovasular fitness.
2003-2004 PE Curriculum- The PE Curriculum will focus on Physical Fitness, Locomotor Skills, Educational Dance, Educational Gymnastics, and Educational Sports. In addition we will concentrate on affective objectives such as sportsmanship, courtesy, and responsibility and cognitive objectives such as knowledge of rules, strategies, and principles. The curriculum will consist of developmentally appropriate activities, assessment, and enhancement of the student's physical fitness levels.
