CB News, Montreal, July 25, 2000:
Jabog and Steve Brown came to terms this past weekend on a one year deal said to be worth 6.5 million dollars, a little less then the 7.5 million Steve was looking for. "This is a joyous day for Jabog," captain Ricardo Trindade was seen saying, "Signing Steve for the next season ensures us to be competitive again."
Steve Brown seemed in very good spirits after the exhausting weekend, "I'm glad this is all behind me. These contract negotiations have been eating at me so much that I think I've lost 20 pounds!" The negotations took place this past weekend in a mountanous resort nestled deep in the Adirondack Hills. Rumour has it Steve Brown was wined and dined (Gatorade and Kit Kats), taken on a leisurely stroll and gondola ride with teamate Carl Brown to finalize the contract. "Yes, we took him to the hills." Carl Brown said jokingly. "Actually, we threatened him with snakes and killer ants! hehe."
Everyone seemed in good spirits and very optimistic for the upcoming season. The Jabog front office knows though that this was just step one. "We've began talking to Steve Lloyd right now," said a spokesperson. Steve Lloyd has been acting as his own agent and lawyer for the past 3 seasons since his last agent left for Indian land in northern Quebec. "Let's just hope that things will work out as well with him as they did with Steve Brown."
Stay tuned, as I'm sure more will unveil itself in the days to follow
on the Jabog contract negotations.
