Hello Jabberfans,

If youve made it this far, you must actually care about this group. Or youve just made a big mistake. In any case, The Jabberwocky Guild started simply to give myself a medium to work in. Sketch comedy, believe it or not, I believe to be an art. My colleague, John Andrew Hall (or JB as I call him) and I became friends doing little quirky scenes together in an Acting class at Southwest Missouri State University. I had wanted to do something like this at my high school, but just never got it together. So, toward the end of the school year, I asked him if he would start a group with me. He was very unsure of doing such a thing, but agreed to come along for the ride anyway. All summer I waited to come back to school looking forward to making a sketch comedy troupe. I first waited on the school to make us an official organization, but after a long talk with my good friend Derek Luna I realized that I had to take matter into my own hands. I, along with former member Brian W. Dixon, went to the Vandivort Center Theater to reserve a weekend for us to produce the show. We held auditions (JB, Dixon, Richie Lee, who never panned out, and myself), and the group got together. The first show ended up being a charity benefit for another school organization whom I shall not name, because they ended up screwing us and not even coming to a show that was a benefit for them! Huh, huh, huh. Sorry I still get a little flustered when talking about it. Our first show had a much bigger cast than we should have had, but we somehow pulled through. Even though we didnt have a full cast through until opening night. We lost three people directly after that show but about two weeks later, Stephen Cross told me about the incredible John E. Mello, and we asked him to be a writer. Johnny was one of the best things that has happened to our group. We also had Derek Luna join us for our second run. I love this group. I get headaches just thinking about our first show, but I love these people. Thats all I have to say for now. Hopefully Ill be revising this or coming in with my own little updates and whatnot.

Sincerely,

Nicholas J. Semar, Jabberwocky Guild artistic director, a-go-go.
