Me! Me! Me!
Mentionings on the Web

In a fit of narcissism, I went searching for any mention of me on the web. I found a few.

BTW, I’m not the only John Eyon to be found on the web. I have a nephew who has a different middle name and appears in a list. My grandfather (deceased) appears on a list. I found my dad (deceased) on a list somewhere. Other instances of the name appear in records from the distant past in the U.S. and the U.K (no relation). I know that there is at least one other John Eyon (no relation) somewhere in the U.S. that I’ve never met.

A few years ago, I sent corrections to three sites which had published the infamous Chief Seattle speech warning of an ecological disaster by the white man and presented it as an historical speech—in fact, it was actually written for a film. There is a historical Chief Seattle speech which doesn't resemble the environmentalist one very much. Of the three websites, one website never replied. One replied, saying they knew about the controversy, but they continued to present the false speech as historical. The third, however, was very nice. The author of that site (Duane Bristow) not only thanked me in email and on his website, but changed his webpage to reflect the controversy surrounding the speech. (BTW, my name at Duane’s webpage links to my old email address. Don't expect an answer from me if you use it.)

I sent a correction to the author of this webpage telling him that the writer of the TV movie "Sole Survivor" was Gordon Trueblood. He thanked me, too. The author goes by "Senor Sock"! The last time I looked, his home page contains politically comic bits. They’re funny—if you're not Hillary Clinton.

A film website presents brief comments that four people, including myself, made regarding the Chinese film KING OF MASKS. For awhile, another website copied that one, substituting profanity for our actual comments. I haven't seen that false one in a while, but that doesn't mean it isn't up there, somewhere.

Some posts that I've made to Microsoft's Newsgroups—asking for software advise or giving advise—can be found on the web, too.

Another mentioning warranted a response. Click here to jump to that one (use the "Back" button if and when you want to return to here).
