Finish the Sentence

When people make demands on society, eg,

  • a scientific researcher claims tax money for research
  • a liberal promotes welfare entitlements
  • a businessman insists on government guarantees from failure
  • a minority demands special privileges
  • a sports fan expects tax funding for a new ball field

they seldom complete their demand.

They need to append to their request: ...therefore we are fully justified in forcing each and every citizen to comply—arresting and imprisoning him if he doesn't.
