Baby Wahlund - 20 Week Ultrasound

September 1, 2004

Parents: Collin and JoAnna Wahlund

Due date: January 20, 2005

Gender: ????

We had our 20-week fetal anatomy ultrasound at 8:00am this morning. Everything looks great, though we won't get the "official" diagnosis until a radiologist looks at the photos. If anything's wrong (which is highly unlikely, given what we saw), I'll find out before my next appointment.

Our ultrasound technician's name was Liza, and she was terrific. We saw Baby's heart, brain, ribs, spine, umbilical cord, bladder, kidneys, tailbone, femur, arms, and face! Baby's heart rate was 150 beats per minute, and s/he currently weighs ten ounces (10 oz.).

The placenta was in the right place (so there's no placenta previa, which is a good thing), and my cervix looks great, so no worries there. There's also plenty of amniotic fluid.

According to Liza, Baby was being VERY cooperative during the entire ultrasound. Incidentally, s/he was laying face down across my uterus. We could have found out the gender... but our desire for a surprise overcame our desire to know. Anyway, she said it would have only been a guess. I can't wait to find out if we have a son or daughter - only 4 months to go!
