Idea for RETRACTABLE
PC800 highway pegs

I want to put two "retractable" highway pegs on my bike. A strut about
8" long, running parallel to the bike, with a peg on the end. It would
be attached at the front of the crashbar, and would be hinged to pivot
downward and forward when I put my feet on them. When not being used,
they would lay up flat under the crashbar covers. Hinged and sprung at
the front, they would not be in the way when not being used. When being
used, it would reduce ground clearance by quite a bit, however when
cruising on straight highways, such as on a trip, I don't see this as
a problem. When you see something in the way, or start into a sharp
curve, simple take you feet off of them, and they would swing up out
of the way. You would want your feet on the original pegs anyway if
you were going to be doing some canyon carving. But on long distance,
highway use, I think they would be very comfortable.
