West Park's Rare Animals

Red Squirrels are thought to live here but this is unconfirmed.
Dulcie Jessop met someone who said that all three woodpeckers can be found in the woods!!!

Rarity- At Last!!!

The first rarity at West Park (a White Stork ciconia ciconia) was recorded on the 19/04/03 by Charles Partington and we hope there will be more yet to come!!!

Arson attacks

The grass near Carnegie Hall and in part of the woodlands is burnt black, if anybody can give in any information please E-Mail us at [email protected]

Breeding Season

The breeding season (and spring) begins on the 24/03/03.
Blue Tit chicks have hatched. Due to thick foliage around the Magpie nest Charles Partington does not know if it is still in use. Great Tits are no longer seen around their nest and Charles Partington does not know what has happened whether it has been abandoned or have the chicks left the nest?? The Great Spotted Woodpecker chicks have disappeared and are presumed by Dulcie Jessop to have left the nest already. As a male and female bullfinch were seen on the 13/5/03 and a male was seen later we are not sure if they are breeding or not although we hope so.
