What does this mean?
For starters, he's a Rooster!!
If you know anything of
Chinese Astrology, then
[given the little Mr. Quast
reveals about his own life],
this makes perfect sense..
I can't say I put much stock
in the stars [apologies
to Javert]
but it is nevertheless interesting. |

#1
Coincidence: Roosters never settle down. They
always seem to move from place to place, and never find a permanent home.
They're restless when sedentary.

Theatre: Appearances in Australia
& England.... damn my American blood...
No,
sorry all my fellow yanks... Philip has never performed live in
the US. While I fully understand that my homeland is utterly devoid of
cultural merit, I still wish occasionally that he [or Nigel Bennett, come
to mention it] would stoop to tour in our lowly streets. This gives me
one more reason to move to Europe at the first opportunity.

Unfortunately, I
have not been able to collect many sound bytes of Philip's performance
in 'Secret Garden.' He hadn't joined TSG in
time for its original London cast recording, and [for some inexplicable
reason] has only one song on the Australian highlights album! Alas,
if only he had portrayed Archibald in Sydney, perhaps I might have an entire
page dedicated to... oh wait, I do have an
entire page dedicated to 'The Secret Garden!'
There isn't much here; as I have said, visual & audio aids are sparse,
but I have collected excerpts from his superlative duet with Anthony Warlow
[Lily's Eyes] as well as a few photos and other general information.
Update:
I didn't realize this initially, since it isn't widely distributed in the
states... But Philip *is* on the 2001 cast recording! I am currently in
search of this marvelous CD, and if it can be located I will post reviews
and additional soundclips [cheers!].
Ultraviolet. Philip portrays Father Pearse J. Harman |
Ultraviolet
was a classy 6-part British miniseries wrestling with the concept of real-life
vampires in our modern world.
Apparently, producers considered
revising it for an American audience... but as far as I'm aware nothing
has come of these discussions. Moreover, Philip would *not* be reprising
his role in the proposed American cast.
My Ultraviolet website is finally up and running. Please visit Pearse and
his troupe Here. |
I adore this photograph...
Though he will never look
'right' to me out of Javert's sideburns and coat, black and white works
magic with Philip.
Oh, and before I am screamed
at... Yes of course I respect Mr. Quast as a talented and versatile
actor; Although first introduced to him by 'Les Miserables', I have
come to love & admire his performances in a number of other theatrical
roles... But one must admit, some men were simply born to wear sideburns!! |
Macbeth, Mr. Quast as Banquo.
|
|
Philip's
small role in Cleopatra is notable despite its brevity... namely
because he's decked out in full Roman armor.
I have collected approximately
fifty images of General
Gratius Cornelius [varying quality], and several sound clips as well.
Honestly, this is a tiny role, and he ought to have been cast as Caeser. |
