Rottweiler (Canis familiaris)

Welcome to Jäger's Rottweiler Rescue page. For now I am going to throw some links up to some much more informative rescue sites. Please be friends with Rottweilers. My life was at the short end of the leash just a little over a year ago. Thanks to the MSPCA (Massachuettes Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), Duke, Robin and Barry, was not retired at the tender age of 1. Look at me. I am one of God's Greatest Creations. I am intelligent, loyal, strong, fun, and loving. My life is consumed with making my family happy. I will do anything for them anytime. I am aware. Imagine me not being here? I HAVE SO MUCH TO OFFER!

Because of the fact that Rottweilers are very powerful, people with no skills or morals use us in ways that are quite sad. Because of the fact that we are such cute puppies some people think they can easily handle us. Not knowing that we are about 100 pounds after one year. There are many reasons why Rottweilers are disposed of. Rottweiler Rescue Groups provide their services so good Rotties (and we are ALL good given the right training) may find a home with a family where they can become useful members of the community.

Grey Wolf (Canis lupus)

I was born not knowing anything like any child. What I knew was in my genes. My DNA tells me, like it tells all canines that I should hunt down, chase my prey, kill it and eat it. I am strong and powerful and able to do these tasks quite efficiently. A Rottweiler's DNA tells her to protect, guard, and love her pack. She will die for them. Just like a human's parents would die for their children. All canines (Canis familiaris) today share the same genes as the Grey Wolf (Canis lupus). A wild animal. When you see a cute little puppy chasing a ball, jumping on it, biting it and flipping head over tail in front of the tv set, you see exactly that. What you do not see is a Grey Wolf stalking down and killing a deer to feed himself and his pack. Cute but with quite deadly implications. All canines need training to prevent these natural survival methods from coming to the forefront. Our "pack" is now human. We live everywhere. We do not have to hunt down prey and kill it to survive anymore. Only the proper training will give us the right to life.

Please take the time and think about rescuing a Rottweiler. But please, before you rescue a Rott or any dog, take time out to find out everything you can about the breed. Learn about the breed. Make sure that you can do the right things for us. Rottweilers are beautiful creatures but we need families that can teach us how to become family members. Because left to our own devices we are nothing but black and tan, Grey Wolf. A wild animal.

Please explore the links below and think about whether or not you can extend the life of a Rottweiler.
