OAV

OAV 1
The movie isa about 35 mins. long. The story takes place within the timeline of the series, shortly after Shohoku's practice game with Ryonan High. It is taken into account that they still doesn't have Ryota and Mitsui. Shohoku was having a practice game with Takezato High School.
The Guest character in focus is Yoko, the 50th girl who rejected Sakuragi and her boyfriend, Oda.
The movie didn't really focused on the game, but more on the effect of Sakuragi's raw fighting spirit on the various people of Takezato High. During the timeline of this story, Sakuragi's skills were not yet fully honed. He hasn't really worked on his shootings, nor perfected his rebounding. Other than that, he's messing up as usual. This didn't help his rivalry with Oda, who made it clear to him that he has no right in playing basketball. Though he was outclassed by Oda through out the game, he left a lasting impression on the Takezato team. Because he simply refused to give up.

OAV 2
This movie is about 45 mins. long. I must note that the animation of this movie is slighty better than that of the series. [More fluid, faster pace and lively].
This movie takes place before they face Shoyo High. They face Tsukubu High, in a qualifying game for the best 8 in the Kanegawa prefecture.
This team have a history with Shohoku, the coach of Tsukubu was trained by Anzai and the player called, Godai was a former team mate of Akagi and Kogure during their junior days in Kitamura Junior High. The scene stealer here is Koichiro Nango. Just like Sakuragi, he has a history of being rejected by girls and both have a huge crush on Akagi's sister, Haruko. In fact, Sakuragi and Nango made a bet, that whoever loses the game should also give up on winning Haruko's heart.
The movie has an underlying plot, which pertains to Sakuragi's struugle to a better player. In this movie, Sakuragi faces two dillemas --he keeps fouling out and he never scores. Akagi constantly reminds him to stick to what he does best -- rebounding. In which later on the story, the crowd's shouting Sakuragi's name and calling him; "king of Rebounds".

OAV 3
Spanning about 40 mins long. This movie takes place right after they've lost to Kainan by 2 pts. [Which demoralized them]. The movie starts with Sakuragi in a barbershop shaving his head.
The Team was issued a challenged to a practice game aggainst Ryukufu. Ryukufu's manager, Eri [Ayako's version in Ryukufu] was the one to form the team designed to win the championships. Eri was peeved by Rukawa when he completely refused and ignored Eri's offer. It may also be a reason why he challenged Shohoku, but the main reason is for them to gain instant fame if they beat Shohoku - the team that gave Kainan a hard time.
The Ryukufu team is composed of heavy-hitters. There's Katsumi, Mitsui's kohai in junior high. Then there is Nadaka, who is to out best Akagi. The team captain, Michael Okita, trained in the US for a year and is being eyed by the NBA. ANd a twin who keeps on confusing Shohoku.
The Ryukufu team may be good, but that was not the main problem of the Shohoku players. Their problem was the deterioration of their self-confidence, not having forgotten their loss to Kainan. Since Akagi was injured, Kogure was left to play in the game. He knew he have to find a way to make his team mates gain their confidence back. [I leave this one for you to find out what happened. hehe]

OAV 3
This is the final movie. This movie runs about 40 mins. long. I am not really sure exactly when this story took place. I think its the time after they beat Ryonan.
Ichiro, the kohai of Rukawa in TomigaokaJunior High, had a grand dream; to enter Shohoku in the hope of making it to the team, and together with his sempai Rukawa, take the team to the national championships. Unfortunately, He can't make his dream come true because he was diagnosed to have an illness, particularly his legs, that had no cure. His doctor told him that he could only play one more game. Seeing how devastated he was, his sister Akane asked help from Haruko in the hopes of arranging a pratice game with Shohoku.
At first, Akagi was against the idea of another player playing in the team even for one game because he thought that it could affect their teamwork. but after recovering from his ankle injury, he realized how important it is for Ichiro to have this one last game. With the permission of Anzai, it became a reality. But Rukawa argued about him being in his team, that's why Sakuragi insisted to Ichiro that instead of playing with Rukawa, he will be playing against Rukawa and join Sakuragi's team. He accepted it and played his very last game -- his dream game.
