Notes on the photo boards in the rooms, (the t.r.a. - p.c.s. system)

1. The photos we have chosen are only interim ones to illustrate the system. They will be improved later. As far as is possible, the child's task of understanding should be assisted by using photos of the specific actual objects involved in an activity. This also applies to the persons involved in the activity.
In the case of a private room, (e.g. a bedroom), and private activities done therein, it might be indelicate to photo the actual person, and it might be better to have a picture of an unknown person to demonstrate the activity. This consideration would be especially important for images of activities in a private place, e.g. a bedroom, shown in the board on the outside of a house, by the entrance door, as this is a much more public place, (although of course the image will be quite small).
Of course it is helpful if people to do with the care, education and training of mentally handicapped persons can attempt to divest themselves of the all too common prudery and paranoia commonly associated with the sexual behaviour of their clients.

2. Computer User actions
The user action will mirror the action of the child in the actual house
a. user clicking on a door = child, in gross motor action, going through the door into the next room
b. user clicking on photoboard = child walking up to the board to get a close-up view of it, a 'zoom' function
c. User clicking on a particular place photo, should 'take him to that place'. This might parallel a child pointing to a place photo in a place/destination board and 'magically', (to his unconscious?), being taken, by adult, to that place.
d. User clicking on a particular activity photo in a photo activity board should lead to that actual activity. So this might parallel the child pointing to a particular activity photo in an activity photo board and 'magically' getting to experience that activity, by the good offices of a helpful, and well-disposed adult witness.
