Classroom
             Rules/Consequences

                                                   SCHOOL CLIMATE POLICY

                                                                  15 MINUTE RULE

The 15 minute rule is very simple.  No student is to be allowed out of any classroom during the first 15 minutes of class each period or during the last 15 minutes of class each period.  This includes the 15 minutes before the lunch period and the 15 minutes before the end of the school day.

                                                 LIMITED PASS POLICY

While we advocate a NO PASS policy, we know and understand that this is easier in theory than in practice.  Students are in class to learn.  When students are in class we can ensure safe, secure, orderly conditions throughout the school.  Students need to be in class. No passes will be issued.  If there is a mitigating circumstance, such as an injury or critical bathroom need, it is the teacher’s responsibility to call the office to notify us that a student is being sent to another location.  When possible an adult escort will be sent.  If this is not possible, the information will be transmitted over the “in house” phone system and the student will be monitored that way.  The teacher will give the student a pass.

                                                      TARDY POLICY

All students need to be in class on time during every class period.  Teachers will be standing at their doors during every passing period.  When the tardy bell rings, teacher will close their doors.  Students who are not in the classroom will be “swept” to the auditorium.  Their names will be recorded.  The consequences are as follows:
 -First offense warrants a warning
-Second offense warrants a phone call home
-Third offense warrants a letter sent home requesting a parent conference as well       as the student serving a detention

                                                    REFERRAL POLICY

Referrals will be sent to the counselors for the following reasons (parents will be contacted):
 a.  Personal concerns
 b.  Attitude concerns
 c.  Academic concerns
 d.  Attendance problems

Referrals for the following behaviors will be sent immediately to the assistant principals’ office:
 a.  Fighting or causing injury to others
 b.  Profanity to adults
 c.  Open defiance to adults
