Yes, there are collectable LOTR models from games workshop. They are really great because you paint them yourself and you can build armies.They even have rules on how to battle your armies!
There are clubs about the hobby that you can join and play battles at or if you can't find a club you could introduce a couple of your friends and battle them!
The one disadvantage with this hobby is that the models are expensive but heck if you like the hobby who cares!
