APPLYING FOR GRE

To take the GRE test , u may first need to obtain the GRE bulletin , which contains the application to fix up the date for ur GRE. If u have a good background in English then , u can take 3 months of intensive preparation to take the test .otherwise , u can start slowly by improving ur vocabulary and reading comprehension .

Note down the address u have to send ur request to obtain the bulletin.

Once you have the bulletin , u have all pertinent information as regards applying for the GRE . 

HOW TO APPLY?

U can apply either thro post or through phone . To apply through phone , u need an international credit card , and the credit card must facilitate encashment in dollars

HOW TO APPLY THROUGH POST?

Go to page number 25 of the bulletin . U are now facing a detachable form , which u must have to fill up and send in order to get ur date. U have options of filling up five dates in order of preference . if u want a confirmed date of ur wish, its advisable that u apply well in advance . 3 months in advance is very good . particularly September -December is peak time and u may need to obtain a date in advance  when u want to test at these times .

FAQs on filling up the GRE date request form:

1. Do i need a passport number?

 NO.! U need not have a passpost number , although its good to have one. But u need to have the passport when u want to take test.Note: It takes 4 months from ur date of application for u to get the passport.

3. What do I choose as mode of payment?

U could choose a credit card , if u have an international credit card , or u can pay thro a demand draft , in favor of Sylvan testing services pvt ltd , for 125 dollars in Indian money , for the dollar selling rate that day. tick near the bankers cheque .

4.What are the test centers in INDIA ? Codes plzz....

U can send the form to the IPEM , address above and u will get the date soon.

How to book by phone?

 To book through phone , U need an international credit card that is encashable in dollars. check if thats possible and then use this option .

 CON: If it is not encashable in dollars then it may give u a big headache . PRO :but u can get a  precise date with this method , and after that even if ur card is not accepted u could send a DD for 125 dollars.

To book through phone , u need to have the following information preferably in the order given below:

 For example if ur first name is Vijay Prabhu , don't interpret , prabhu as ur middle name , just tell them ur first name is "Vijay space prabhu" . If u tell them that prabhu is ur middle name , from then on ur name will be written as Vijay P xyxxxx (last name).

7.DATE OF TESTING (morning/afternoon). morning u may start taking ur test as early as 8.00 although the official timing is 9.oo. afternoon testing is at 1.00 pm . u may start earlier if u come earlier.

9.CARD NUMBER( TELL THEM IN 4 DIGITS AT A TIME)

10.CARD HOLDERS NAME: Exact name necessary

With all this information , u can book ur GRE date through the phone . They will give u the confirmation number which u carefully note it down . Mug it up . u will receive confirmation in a week. even if u don't , nothing to worry. Just take ur confirmation number on ur test taking date half and hour before and enter using that.
