"!RIHERD: MRS. SARITH P. GOOD WOMAN DEAD. Mrs Sarith P. Riherd died at the
home of her daughter-in-law Mrs. W. D. Riherd, in Scottsville, last Saturday
morning aged sixty-nine years. Before her mariage she was Miss Zarith
Taylor, sister of Dr. J. Morgan Taylor, of this place. She was married in 1852 to Jesse L. Riherd, who died in 1870. To them were born six children; five boys and one girl as follows: W. D. Riherd, the eldest, who died in Scottsville in 1897; J. T. and D. F. Riherd of Glasgow Junction; Mrs. James Baeds of Warren County; James L. Riherd, who died in Oklahoma last summer, and Joseph M. Riherd, who died in infancy. Besides these she leaves two sisters: Mrs. Wm. Atkinson of Etoile; this county; and Mrs. L. E. Darter of Missouri. Mrs. Riherd has been a devout Christian for more that half a century, and for over forty-five years was a member of the old Mt. Tabor church, being the oldest member of that congregation in point of membership at time of her death.
The remains were brought to Glasgow Sunday afternoon, and after appropriate
services at the grave by Rev. Gilbert Glass, was interred in Odd Fellows
Cemetery. ( NP by NSH)."

"That no material changes have been made in his property since 1818 and, 380 acres of mountain land, 300 of which he had in 1818 and the 80 acres of entry service said land is situate in the hills of Buffaloe Mountains between that and the Iron Mountain and most of the lands owned by him are not more thatn expense to the lands entered at one cent per acre in the same section- - said land not valued at more than $1.00 per acre the yearly income of which is not worth more than $30.00.

That he has no family save his wife and one son 17 years of age, his wife has unfortunatly been for many years deranged and requires his attention and care to preserve her from injury inasmuch that for seven years he has had to keep her confined. That he is a farmer and is without any trade that he is unable from age to resort to hard labor of his wife's situation would permit. That he has raised 10 sons, all of whom have gone from him and started pennyless because he could not sustain himself and heis little____ much less give them aid but still retain his little property in the way before described.

State of Virginia, Russell County, August 23, 1830, before James McClure Justice of Peace. Said Eve Counts, age upwards of 60 years, resident of Russell County, swears George Haynes was her brother, that before his enlistment he resided in Frederick County Virginia, and she knew of his enlistment and she saw him on furlough return to his residence in Virginia. She cannot remember the year in which he enlisted or when his service terminated. Signed Eve Counts

Christopher Haynes swears he was personally and intimately acquainted with George Haynes, Senior, of Carter County, Tennessee and that said George Haynes was born in Winchester, Virginia. Christopher Haynes and George Haynes were the only sons of their mother who, during the Revolution lived in Winchester, Virginia. George Haynes now lives in Carter County, near Jonesborough. John Blair House of Representatives, who interceded for George Haynes to prove he _______ pension. Be it remembered that on the 19th day of July 1819 George Haynes personally appeared in open court aged 62 and being desirous of availing himself of the provision of an act of Congress entitled an act ot provide for certain persons who were engaged in the Revolutionary War, etc., "That he the said George Haynes, some time in the Revolutionary War at what time he cannot now recollect, enlisted in the continental service in the County of Frederick, State of Virginia in the first Regiment of Cavalry of the Virginia line for three years under Captain Fentleroy of Major Bellfields' Command that after his enlistment was taken to Charleston S.C. and at the Battle of Guilford his Captain (Fentleroy) was killed and he was put under Captain Gunn of 1st Regiment in which he was enlisted- Captain Gunn was replaced by Captain Henry Bayer by whom he was discharged in the State of Virginia at Staunton after having faithfully served out three years which discharge he kept for some time and never having drawn any of his pay he put the said discharge into the hands of Martin Fetner to draw his pay for him from whom he has never heard since but supposes said Fenton may have drawn thereon and pocketed it from which circumstance he now has not the power to produce said discharge.
