Trailer Watch: Spring Edition

Here are some previews that were attached to the hit thriller V for Vendetta, seen on April 7, 2006 at the Clearview Cinema 10 in Succasunna:

  1. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift- Just when you thought that the drag racing film franchise was over, here comes another one; this time starring a mostly Japanese cast set in the high stakes world of Tokyo drag racing, where hot chicks and tricks rule. The only downside of this upcoming sequel? No Paul Walker or Vin Diesel or Ludacris in this one; only the Japanese stars from the original, including hottie Devon Aoki from part 2, are in it. Sayonara, Universal, for bringing a faded franchise to the streets of Japan. 2 out of 4 stars.

  2. Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest--Yes, another sequel to a hit movie. But a really good movie inspired by a popular ride at Disneyland in which pirates rule and cowards drool. This time, the whole gang is back, trying to find the treasure of the same name as the latter title. Looks like it's going to be the biggest sequel of the year, beating out MI:3.  4 out of 4 stars.

  3. Poseidon--Hey, it's another remake of a popular movie! This time, it's based on the 1972 hit disaster flick The Poseidon Adventure, in which a gigantic wave threatens to damage a cruise liner (think Titanic meets The Perfect Storm). An all-star cast won't save this big budget remake. 2 out of 4 stars.

  4. X-Men: The Last Stand--Are we getting sick of sequels and remakes? This one might be also good: In this third X-Men adventure, Professor X and his mates are fighting against the last remaining mutants who threaten to terrorize San Francisco. The 2nd preview shows more of the great effects and action that this film franchise is known for. If this movie does well, expect a spin-off of this series based on Wolverine. 4 out of 4 stars.

That's it for now. Be sure to check back next time when I review trailers before either Thank You For Smoking or Scary Movie 4.
