Hurricanes we would like to see...

Is 2004 the year of natural disaster? Thanks in part to increased ratings for the Weather Channel and the popularity of this year's disaster movie The Day After Tomorrow (now playing in some theatres before heading to DVD by the end of the month), the world is once again fascinated with Mother Nature. Unlike terrorism, stock market crashes, and sports hijinx like hecklings and brawls, natural disasters are more risky than the former. It's more common to see a major storm pass by with flashes of lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rain. This is called a hurricane. Sure, there was a song written about a hurricane called "Here I Am" by the rock group The Scorpions (who are still around) and a wrestler by the name of the Hurricane and a boxer nicknamed The Hurricane, but nothing stands close to a real hurricane. These massive donut shaped weather patters cause massive power outages , damage cars, kill people less than earthquakes, and flood certain areas. That was the case with Charley, Frances, and now Ivan; remnants of that massive storm (as of 9/18/2004) are causing minor power outages, flooding small roads and making people stay home in the Northeast. With Jeanne and Karl on the way, here are a few more hurricane names we would like to see…

Hurricane Lucent (named after the small technology company)

Hurricane Microsoft

Hurricane Nintendo

Hurricane Osama

Hurricane Pokemon

Hurricane Quentin

Hurricane Rodan

Hurricane Sony

Hurricane Toyota

Hurricane Utica

Hurricane Valero

Hurricane Walmart

Hurricane XXX

Hurricane Yu-Gi-Oh

Hurricane Zorro

That's all the storms for now.
