Gran Turismo 4

Since its debut on the original PlayStation way back in 1997, Gran Turismo has been the crown jewel of  Sony's library of games that bear the first-party label. Filled with real cars and real driving courses, the games have been the reason to own a PlayStation and a PlayStation 2. Now with the PS2 nearing its prime just as the PSP comes out this spring, out comes Gran Turismo 4, the final installment for the PlayStation 2 in the venerable franchise.

In this massive game, you take control of over 650 cars on 100 tracks on two modes: the simple Arcade Mode, and the challenging yet addictive Gran Turismo mode, in which you can buy cars with money and test drive it in driving tests as well as many other things to do. The music soundtrack is pretty good, with plenty of old tracks ("Oh Yeah" by Yello, as well as "Panama" by Van Halen) and new (Will.I.Am and others). There is also a photo shoot mode if you have an Epson printer (which I don't have) to show off your ride, but there is no online mode, which blows. Oh, well, that makes up for the massive replay ability that makes this game a must have for your PS2 collection.
