Friday Night Lights

Set in a small Texas town during the late 1980's, Friday Night Lights tells the true story of a high school football team that beat the odds to make it into the championship game and become heroes. Like every other sports movie, this one has the players talk smack as well as making love to their girlfriends and drinking alcohol and partying hard with drugs. But what makes this movie work is the emotions shown by the students when they're at school and when they're on the field as players. When they play on the field, the action is intense and the bone-crunching surround sound engulfs you in the game as never before.

It will make you cry, cheer, and sometimes laugh. Friday Night Lights is the best sports movie of the year, period.
