Now finally available on DVD after a months-long delay, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children tells the story of what happened after the end of Final Fantasy VII, with Cloud Strife and his friends reuniting with their old foe, a clone of Sephiroth, the game's big bad boss who is using geostigma to lure dozens of young kids into his club, which consists of the clone and his two helpers. It's up to Cloud, Tifa, Barrett, Yuffie, Cait Sith, Red XIII, Cid, and Vincent to stop the menace from polluting Midgar and bring the Lifestream back to life!
The movie is pretty good. CGI animation is up there with Pixar but more realistic; if you seen Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within or the Animatrix short Flight of the Osiris, you will see the same realistic CGI that Square is known for. The music is great and familiar to those who've played Final Fantasy VII (I was one of the few who didn't get to beat Sephiroth in the final boss fight since it was too hard). And the storyline closely follows the ending to Final Fantasy VII (for more, watch the great bonus film "Reminisce about Final Fantasy VII", which shows the story of the game so that you don't have to play it), which is great news for fans. The voice acting is very good, no foul language, but an all-star cast (Rachel Leigh Cook, Mena Suvari are some of the more famous stars) and great action (lots of fighting and special effects) make up this must see DVD.
