Elektra

When Daredevil was released nearly two years ago, audiences got to see more than just Ben Affleck in a superhero suit for the first time; they got to see a new rising star by the name of Jennifer Garner, who just won an Emmy for her role in the cult TV show Alias and was married to her on-screen co-star Michael Vartan. In the movie, she played the role of an assassin by the name of Elektra Natchios, who unfortunately dies near the end of the movie, trying to save Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil.  Flash forward less than three years later: Jennifer Garner broke up with her husband and now is dating her Daredevil co-star, Ben Affleck, despite having an injury that kept her from attending the premiere of her latest flick, Elektra.

In this sequel to Daredevil, Elektra is resurrected by her masters and has a new mission: to stop her old adversaries from getting Ms. Natchios and her daughter, Abby, as well as her husband. These adversaries are known by the name of the Hand, ninjas and assassins who will do anything to kill the lovely looking assassin.

After seeing this movie on opening weekend, I thought that this movie was much better than Daredevil, since Ms. Garner shows her true martial arts skills (just like in Alias) as well as her sexy side (watch her many fashions, just like Alias). The special effects in this movie are pretty good, with flying snakes, a hawk that uses camouflage to blend in buildings as well as the human that uses as its soul, and  plenty of explosions and Elektra's special eye powers. The music in this movie is pretty good, and so is the surround sound and cinematography, which make the movie worth watching on a big screen.

In the race for top superhero movie of the year, Elektra should be it. Not only is this movie the best female hero movie, but one of the best Marvel movies ever made, period.
