Japanese animation is called anime in the United States. Until very recently, anime used to be very expensive. One DVD holding about three episodes of a series would cost more than $20. After the series was completed through individual volumes, a box set containing one season or a complete series would be made available to the public. However, those box sets were $100 and up. Today, you can find a 13 episode series in the $20 range and a 26 episode series can also be found in that same price range. Anime has become a lot more affordable thanks to the fact that more companies are licensing the Japanese titles and are releasing them to the public. There are also more fans of anime at this point in time than there have been before; the higher demand for more releases is another factor for the cheaper box sets. I decided to focus this site on three online retailers because they have at least one fantastic anime sale each year. They are Right Stuf, Deep Discount, and DVD Planet. The sales that these online sites hold can save you more than 50% off the anime's retail price.
