| Step 7: What is a cycle? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The amount of water on the earth has been almost the same for hundreds of millions of year. Why? |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Cycle: a complete set of events that happens again and again in the same order. |

| "Water falls from the clouds down to the earth, turns to steam, rises to make clouds, and then falls again. This process is called the water cycle." - The Water Cycle By Don L. Curry |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| How does the cycle work? *When the sun warms the surface of a body of water, the water evaporates and moves upward as vapor (steam). *Clouds and mists are formed when the sun warms the surface of the waters in lakes, streams, oceans, and puddles. Then water in the form of a gas rises into the warm air and a mist or fog appears. This is called evaporation. *If water vapor continues to rise in the warmth of the sun, tiny droplets of water begin to collect around dust paricles in the air. When these cool, a cloud is formed. Clouds are masses of water droplets and ice crystals in the atmosphere. They come in all shapes and sizes. (Taken from Water Dance) |
