Step 3: Taking shape
One of the ways to identify a liquid or gas is to see whether or not it takes the shape of the container or space that it is in.  If the substance is a solid it will not take the shape of the container or space.
Your task is to take part in an experiment.
Materials:
*ice cube
*plastic cup
*water
*teapot
*piece of paper
Put an ice cube in your plastic cup.  What do you notice?  Does it take the shape of the plastic cup?  Put the water in your plastic cup.  What do you notice?  Does it take the shape of the plastic cup?  Boil water in the teapot.  Trap the stream from the spout in the plastic cup using a piece of paper to cover the top of the cup.  What do you notice?  Does it take the shape of the plastic cup?
Print this observation chart and record observations from the experiment.
