Chapter 17

Long after everyone went home, Lisa still remained awake. She watched re runs of old TV shows and informercials to pass the time. She just stayed in the living room hoping and praying that Michael would wake up. It was well past 3 o'clock and Lisa began to give up. She sat down in the chair beside the couch and fell asleep with the television still on.

A few hours later, Lisa woke up. She realized she was covered with a blanket. She sat up and saw Michael watching Saturday morning cartoons on the couch. Lisa's heart almost jumped. Michael was so beautiful that she had to rub her eyes. He looked the same. But Lisa could tell Michael was fully a vampire. His power and beauty radiated the room. He had been up for a while because he had changed into a pair of dark blue jeans and a black top.

"Michael?" Lisa whispered.

Michael turned to her and smiled. "Good morning, Lisa."

Lisa opened her mouth to greet him back but no words would come. His eyes were maybe more intense than The Master's could ever be.

"Hi, " She finally said.

Michael giggled. "Come here. You got to see this. It's so funny."

Lisa hesitated, but got up at sat next to Michael. She saw Michael was watching Tom&Jerry. Lisa became stiff when Michael put his arm around her. But she soon relaxed when she heard Michael's laugh. It was over now. The job was done. When the cartoon was over, Michael said, "Thank you for saving my life."

Lisa laughed. "I almost ended it too. As a matter of� fact, I think I did."

Michael kissed her. "You didn't. You made my life...begin in a way."

He gazed at the ceiling to stare at the light fixture. At one glance of Michael's eyes, the lights were out.

Lisa giggled. "Stop showing off."

Michael laughed and looked at the TV. It shut down. Michael kissed Lisa passionately.

"I just want to be a part of the darkness." Michael whispered. He ran his fingertips through Lisa's hair.

"You always will be Michael." Lisa said.

The laid on the couch and loved each other. Now and forever, in the darkness...in the shadows.
