Off-season report and update
4/12/05--  It has been a while since the last update.  Toward the end of last racing season, my stepdad and I made the change to go to Midway Speedway (owned and operated by Harold Armstrong), just off of East 32 in Lebanon.  In the off-season, we have been getting our cars ready, slowly, to get back on the race track.  Jerry had an oil leak in his car, but he has since gotten it fixed.   We have been working a lot lately on my car, dropping a new motor in to replace the one that I blew up last season on the 4th of July.  We should have it ready at least by opening day, if not sooner.  I hope.  More updates to come, stay in touch.
Almost Race Ready
4/18/05-- Well, what can I say, it has been a long time coming but the car is very close to being ready for race day.  Friday April 29 is opening night at Midway Speedway, and it looks as though both race cars will be in good running order for that event.  Jerry's car is almost there too, but lacks some odds and ends stuff, as does mine.  Yesterday, we worked on the car nonstop for a good nine hours. Earlier in the morning, we had changed out an exhaust manifold, and (finally) got the car fired up.  It sounds nice.  We washed it, and attached our AMSOIL decals to the sides of the cars (new pictures coming soon). All we lack now is a vacuum line and exhaust, plus some new spark plugs.  Wish us luck!
The Finishing Touches
4/24/05-  Today, like every Sunday for the past month or so, was a day to work on our cars.  A week away from the start of the season, and we are almost completely finished.  It's good to have it ready, and neither one of us can wait for that first green flag to drop.  Jerry and myself were out today pounding some of the dents out of his "Purple People Eater".  We got the fender pretty well straight and most of the dents hammered out of the hood.  Now he has to weld a bit on his car and it'll be good to go.
Also today, we got the trailers fixed and wired my old Chevy up for a trailer, and I even practiced a bit backing the trailer up and things, getting everything lined out, and pulling the race car.  I think I'm going to be alright.  Wednesday, I will be back out there and we will be finalizing everything, fine tuning and stuff, seeing as how we got new plug wires coming in on Tuesday.  Keep checking back for more updates and I'll See you at the Races!
       RAINED OUT!!!!!!
5-3-05-- Well, opening night was a complete washout!  So this weekend (Friday May 6, 2005) is named Opening night!! The cars are finished (save for some minor welding to Jerry's car) and we are both anxiously anticipating the arrival to the track on Friday.  I can't wait to pull onto that race track and let 'er go!  Stay tuned for more and I hope to see you at the races!
