2) Update the program. You need to be connected to the internet and click the update button/link in the program.*
3) For XP and ME users, turn off System Restore (Be sure to turn it back on when all's well !!!). Instructions on System Restore here.
4) For AdAware, Spybot, & A-squared it is a good idea to run these in Safe-Mode. Instructions on Safe-Mode here. I prefer the f8 key method. Restart and start tapping the key. Restart after scanning.
5) Spybot can give some false positives, so it is recommended for more advanced users who understand what exactly the program will be eliminating, as it can get rid of non-harmful files that keep your system running correctly. Always consult the program help file for details on using the programs correctly (or ask here for help)
