You cannot hire any troops for this battle, which makes it a little easier to discuss. What you need to do is head south as quickly as you can, where you will find a shop selling all kinds of weird things. You're racing a variety of things - the three burly, and rather odd, men are Builders ('Aniki'). And they're tough. Not as tough as Aniki from previous games as their attack is slow, but they cause a great deal of damage. It's a good idea to kill them as soon as possible.

However, it isn't long before four even weirder women appear at the top end of the map. They're accompanied by a single unit of monsters each, and they're ~ very ~ tough indeed. If you want the experience, try and take them out, but you'll need to be very tactical in your approach. You ~ will ~ lose if you take them on up front. It might be worth considering forgetting about the monsters and hitting the women - they're civilians, so they won't attack back, but they still have good DF, so use a bit of Magic. You don't get much experience for the units anyway. By the way, Aniki apparently sometimes drop Vaseline and Iron Arrays. You need these to get the Aniki summon, but I've never had Aniki drop these before...
