I had the strangest thing happen this morning and could not fathom the possibility of how it happened.  After exploring all the possibilities that were "reality" something deep in my spirit told me I had just seen the protection of God...but could not believe it until I spoke to my dear friend and mentor (Thank you CB for confirming what I already knew and giving me the idea for this blog).

I awoke this morning thinking I needed to check to see if my friend who has been staying a few days with me had gotton up for work.  I found they had and turned to lock the front door as my friend does not have a key and I do not live in the very best of neighborhoods.  But the door was locked.  Thinking this not so strange as they could have left out the back door I went to lock that one and it too was locked.  Now I am a bit concerned because I know for a fact my friend does not have a key so I check the house to make sure they are indeed gone and when I find no one but me and my infant son I am thinking what a mystery.

I called my friend for confirmation they did not lock the door and they assure me they did not and that my keys are right where I left them.  Perhaps the neighbor (who has a key) saw my friend leave and locked the door.  I think ok, this is a plausible answer and knowing they are up go to investigate that avenue only to find they did not lock the door either.  Now I am stumped and as I carry my stolen cup of coffee from next door wonder...is it possible God was looking out for me this morning?

Thinking that maybe God would not be so obvious about something like this I question the possibility by calling my dear friend and mentor and telling her of this strange thing that has happened this morning.  The first words out of her mouth confirm what I pretty well knew but I guess because I am still learning so much about Him and His power was questioning.  She said, "Isn't it great how God protects us like that?  Just think...if He protects us so obviously, think how often He protects us and we don't even know it!"  After a few minutes she suggested I write this and we say goodbye.

Yes, isn't it great...fantastic...wonderful...mysterious...how God does protect us?  How many times can you think back over things in your life and wonder "How did I ever survive that?" knowing full well you could have been hurt or even fatally wounded?  How many times can you look back and think...hmm how did that happen knowing that just because it did you were safer?

When I first started attending the church I do now (praise and worship) there was a woman there who told me that God had been protecting me for years.  That there were many times I should have died but God protected me because He had a very special plan for me and that plan was about to unravel and many great and wonderful things were going to start happening for me.  I thought back over my life and thought of a few times that maybe....just maybe I could have sorta fit into that catagory, but could not pinpoint any one time I really felt that my life was in danger (as far as I knew).  But of course if God was protecting me...how would I have known the danger existed?

Then today...in this neighborhood that is not the "greatest" God showed me just how powerful and overly protective of me He is by locking my front door.  And in just that little display of power and protection I am in total awe of how much He loves me and wants to protect me so that I can do whatever it is that He has planned for me to do.  And I look back over my life and wonder just how often He has done that over and over because I am that important to Him.  I say thank you dear Lord.

Now look back over your life...think of all the times God looked over and protected you because He has a plan for your life.  And when you find yourself unsure and questioning the mysterious things that have kept you safe and alive over the years remember to look up and say thank you Lord for sending your power of protection over me and my family.  Thank you for stationing angels at my doors, around my home, in and around my car, my childrens schools and any where else you can think of.  Because once you have witnessed the POWER OF PROTECTION of God in your life...you won't doubt it again.
