| I love to sing, laugh, and enjoy life with my children...but most of all I am a great believer in God and my faith. | ||||
Kids Do The Darndest Things! ![]() I tell you, sometimes I just have to laugh at my son and the things he does. He is at that age where he gets into EVERYTHING! And when I say everything...I mean everything. In the food cabinet he rearranges my canned goods to his own semblance of order and for an anal retentive Mom like myself it drives me absolutely crazy when I can not find a simple can of corn. If not for the locks on my cabinets with pots, pans and the like...he would probably have each of them emptied in a matter of seconds creating disorder and chaos in my every so organized kitchen. Laundry day is a disaster. He takes my neatly piled dirty clothes and scatters them from one end of the house to the other. After they have been washed, dried, neatly folded, and are resting in the basket to be put away he will promptly empty them with the clothes flying through the air like little ghosts. God forbid should you leave the bathroom door open. He will take anything he can get his hands on and deposit it into the toilet or bathtub. Thank god the toilet paper is still too high to reach. If you forget to lock the DVD cabnet (yes, it has child locks on it for his benefit) you can bet my nicely alphabetized DVD's will be scattered across the living room. If the light flashes the button must be pushed...on the TV, on the remote, and especially the computer. I can not count the times I have been in the middle of something very important on my computer and suddenly without warning it starts to shut down and he stands there grinning like he did something "Good". And, since he has now learned to open drawers...you can bet anything in a drawer that he can reach will be found all over the floor. But you know...you have to love them. As he does these things he sings happily to himself like it is a job he enjoys. When he finishes each task he cries out with delight and claps his hands like it was a job well done. And, as I stand there with my hands on my hips ready to pounce he turns and sees me and runs and puts his arms around my legs and says "Awwww". So now, this anal retentive, overly organized mom is not so anal retentive and much less organized because this little tornado has entered my life and left me utterly defenseless. As much as I would like to discipline the little bugger it escapes me as I watch him enjoy his little job and then realize mommy is upset and wants to make everything ok with is hug and "Awwww". So as this little blessing has been brought into my life to reek havoc, disorder and chaos...I am also reminded of the very special gift that he is. That is why I try to remember each day thank God for one more opportunity to be a mom and hope that I can be the very best mom to him, and his sister. So tonight before you go to sleep and then again in the morning when you awaken...remember to thank God for the bery special gifts He has given you...your kids. 2006-09-05 12:54:51 GMT
