Transforming: RESEARCH + TECH Blog
I think I shoul d start to move this blog towards a tech blog. I have two personal blogs already and that's enough for me to pure my sour soups. The issue is now I need some thing to write down my research and keep track of it from time to time. The tech blog I'm using seems to be something called GMAIL.
It's of large capacity, but bad indexing mechanism.
Alright. The first thing is to write down where I am now and what I'm planning to do.
I am now a 2nd year Ph.D graduate student in ASU, working in CUbiC lab with Dr. Baoxin Li. I spend my first year in ASU lingering around AME (the concentration program I am in) and did nothing but getting to know people and familiarizing myself with the mechanism. It sure was helpful, but a total waste of time technicwise and researchwise. Now I moved to my current research lab, where I find the work exciting and motivated, but I do have some problem managing my time among TA, course work and research. It's not serious yet, but I'm being slow somehow. All my lab mates are doing great jobs and I really need to catch up.
My current research:
Major: Combining stereo/3D modeling with haptic user interface to assist surgical procedure and diagnosis.
Minor: Structural analysis of Image and video, structure from motion and stereo vision.
Tool: Most comfortable with Matlab and C, improving in C++ and having fun with Java ( for processing extensively)
Hobbies: Designing interaction, playing around with Microcontrollers, if possible, design mechanical interaction facilities such as robots.
That's about it. Let's start to write hopefully on a daily basis, based on how far I've gone, what am I expecting to do and where am I in some larger sense.
