My Seperate Reality
A Place Where I Can Vent About The Stupidity Of The World Around Me And Point Out The Facts And Fiction We Share!
Entry for December 12, 2006

I was confronted this morning by a news story that put the Grinch squarely back in all the feastive activities that make up such a large part of this time of year. Most people will take the time to notice what is there,  not so much  what is not there. Over the years we have had those who believe it is their right and duty to ruin every holiday we have created over the years and this to brake the mundain structures to give us rest from employment. Yes, there are those who take advantage of the season,  starting it 3 months before it is to arrive just to make a profit and each year the decorations and the music start earlier and earlier. No, bah hum bug here, I take in all the sights, the sounds, the smells, and I do my best to learn about other cultures who do not practice the same views I do during the holidays.

This man, you could tell had too much time on his hands as he waited around the terminal of one airport. He personally slunk through the crowd observing the yule tide decorations and proceded to count the number of  violation which infringed upon his inturpation of what should and should not be seen in such a public place. Once he had totalled up the number of objects that burned his cookies, he informed the management of the concourse that 31, yes, 31 trees were decorated and lite up with every color of the rainbow shining between their boughs. All the branches were laiden with garland, tincle, and just too many joyful gadget ever made to make a small childs eyes sparkle. He was on a mission.

His complaint was heard loud and clear and after some consideration of the facts, the trees were removed and put out of site, where one could enjoy their beauty and stature. He's a mean one that old grinch, he had a need to steal as much of the holiday away from others and with malace and purpose he slashed and tore apart the good-will the employees of this fine airport who share 31 trees with all those who would pass through this place. What could blacken the heart of any one man enough to place his own perverted thinking on everyone else. His complaint was there were no Menorah's displayed along side those confounded bright and beautiful trees.

Is it not the season to forgive, to give more than to recieve, and in one lone act of self-centered anger, he became green colored, nasty smelling, cross-eyed, grinch to all those around him. In one dark act of malcontent he pressured his view and customs upon all the other persons who  looked forward to the sight of a tree lite and bright to cheer them as they went through an airport maze and onward to family and friends. They smiled alittle less, performed less good deeds for their fellow man, and they made this season a lot less special because one man, one person, has and will never understand unconditional love of forgiveness. I feel sorry for him and his actions.

It is the traditions and the differences in all the  cultures of the world that bring  glee to your heart and it is how we learn to celebrate the holidays in our own personal way which make us the individuals we are in the world. It is a shared experience the love, the happiness, the togetherness of these holidays ending every year but, it is not for one man to impact his will over the rest of us. If he feels the need to see more Menorahs in the world he should learn to spread them silently and with as much love sharing his traditions with others so they to will see the beauty in the Menorah and in this way they will recieve a great gift from the man not a punishment.
