Entry for June 04, 2007 - A New Arms Race, A New Cold War
There is still more alarming news concerning the Bush administration's military build-up and their desire to dominate the world through military agression (see "The Project for a New American Century). Bush is building more nuclear weapons at a time when he is demanding that Iran not even pursue a nuclear energy program for fear that they will expand it to a weapons program. Now he is planning to place long range nuclear missiles in Europe to defend against what he calls "rogue nations". Vladimir Putin of Russia has a different idea of who that rogue nation might be. In an interview with journalist, the Russian president said, “...it is not we who are the initiators of the new arms race, which is undoubtedly brewing in Europe...The strategic balance in the world is being upset". For more on this and Putin's plan to retaliate go to href=http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19013495/.
This is actually quite characteristic for the Bush administration, one which has repeatedly refused to negotiate, compromise, or even talk to it's perceived enemies and instead turning to military agression as it's first response. Iran, the supposed target of these new missile installations in Europe claims that it is all a "joke" since their missiles can't reach Europe. At least not yet.
Again, we can see how this is all very much in character for Bush who has taught the American people to be afraid, be very afraid. The person who we should most be afraid of is you, Mr. Bush.
