I applaud Gale Stokes' article in Sunday's Chronicle pointing out the hypocrisy of Bush's comments about Russia's incursion into Georgia. The mainstream media have been pathetically silent about the obvious correlation between Russia's actions and similar ones by the United States. But Stokes only points out the similarity to U.S. actions in Kosovo. What about Iraq? How did Bush keep a straight face when so sternly condemning Russia's invasion of a "sovereign nation"? Bush and Putin are much more alike than either is willing to admit.
