Entry for October 25, 2007 - Oklahoma lawmakers object to donated Qurans
I saw this article on msn.com and was saddened by the ignorance of many of Oklahoma's lawmakers. I wonder how many of our Texas lawmakers would do the same? (this headline should be a clickable link, if not, go to http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21455714/)

Oklahoma lawmakers object to donated Qurans

Gifts returned to diversity panel; lawmaker says book condones killing

"....In a letter to colleagues, state Representative Rex Duncan says "most Oklahomans do not endorse the idea of killing innocent women and children in the name of ideology."

The article didn't say whether or not he had actually read the Quran. I believe he is misguided and/or ignorant about the Quran and apparently the Bible as well.

This is from Exodus where Moses instructs the Levites to kill all those for merely not being "for the Lord".

25 Moses saw that the people were running wild and that Aaron had let them get out of control and so become a laughingstock to their enemies. 26 So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, "Whoever is for the LORD, come to me." And all the Levites rallied to him. 27 Then he said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.' " 28 The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died.

Does this mean that Christianity endorses the idea of killing innocents? I guess he better give back any Bibles that have been given to him as well.

Some people can derive any meaning they want from any Holy Scripture.
